Business Challenge
Pretzables was a start-up company born from a great idea and a fabulous recipe. However, like most startups, budget was a limiting issue. The challenge was not only for Lisa to develop a professional Web site, but to have prospective customers find her on the Web and place an order either by filling out a fax form or by calling on the phone. We were able to accomplish the first part by putting together a Web site that reflected her business as well as her personality. The second task for us was to use the remainder of Lisa’s budget effectively and submit Pretzables to the search engines and enable her site to easily be found online. |
Solution
While ideally we would have liked to have done natural listing optimization, manual submission and paid inclusion and because of the unique nature of Lisa’s business, her limited start-up budget and the lack of competition for keywords and key phrases we decided to do a manual search engine submission. We submitted pretzables.com to some of the major search engines such as Google, AlltheWeb, AltaVista, DMOZ, and Inktomi. Pretzables can now be found on any of the major search engines which has lead to an increase in traffic to the site, an increase in orders taken as a result of being found online and even to Lisa being discovered by the Food Network’s Food Finds program which taped an episide for national broadcast sometime in December 2004. | Case Study Navigation
